Coalition for Austin’s Arts and Spanish-Language Theatre CAAST
We are a coalition of artists, producers, and supporters of spanish language theatre based in Austin, Texas. We are united in the conviction that stage arts in Spanish deserve visibility, resources and institutional support proportional to the richness of our community.
What do we do:
We have gathered and organized to create and foster an artistic community that is supportive and sustainable, that can maintain itself in time and can count on the necessary resources for its development.
We want to highlight and celebrate the cultural power of Spanish language Theatre in Austin via collective organization, valiant and just political advocacy, and the creation of a lasting infrastructure.
Our Vision:
A society in which theater and stage arts in Spanish can count with the infrastructure, financing, technical capacity, and cultural respect that they deserve. Wherein they can share, celebrate and bolster our artistic cultural heritage.

How do we do it:
We operate under a collaborative community model.
- Any person aligned with the mission of CAAST can join, participate in meetings, speak publicly, and contribute to plans, actions, and proposals.
- There exists a coordinating team that guides the CAAST strategies, coordinates actions, and tracks the direction of the organization.
- CAAST has a coordinating team that guides strategy, coordinates actions, and oversees the direction of the organization.
- To join the coordinating team, one needs to be nominated and unanimously voted in by the members, demonstrate commitment to ethical principles, and maintain a good moral standing in the community.
